David is the Managing Director of Bioscience Transformation and Product Innovation for Avancer Group, Inc. His professional conviction is “Providing insights and connections for transformative data, critical analyses, and timely decisions into effective new product innovations!”
Professionally, at SRI International-BioSciences Division, Pangene Corporation, and Colby Pharmaceutical Company, David led initiatives resulting in the successful identification, development, and partnering of novel products and product candidates. His professional management experiences equip him with the skills necessary to navigate complex business landscapes, forge strategic alliances, and drive revenue growth through innovative biologic and pharma drug product solutions. David has a strong background in senior-level professional business and product leadership within pharmaceuticals, companion diagnostics, medical devices, healthcare, and biotechnology. He has identified emerging opportunities and strategic partnerships within biotech and pharma leading to significant revenue generation and the advancement of innovative product portfolios. David’s experience spans small molecule pharma drugs and synthetic biologics, including antibiotics, proteins, nucleic acids, and cell-based therapies, and encompasses healthcare, therapeutics, immune-activating nanoparticles, diagnostics, and medical devices, some of which were approved. Notably, he functioned in integral roles in the development and commercialization of products targeting various therapeutics, including oncology, immunology, inflammation, and infectious and neurodegenerative diseases. David is working with Avancer’s team and strategic partners to advance transformative platform precision medicines, immunotherapeutics, anti-inflammatory, anti-cancer, anti-infective, anti-neurodegeneration agents, and client initiatives. He is internationally recognized for pioneering innovation and guiding alignment between leadership and strategic vision with success and excellence in life sciences, biotechnology, and healthcare. David Zarling brings a track-record of effective leadership, cross-functional collaboration, and strategic planning, essential for driving successful business, partnering and product initiatives. He leverages his expertise to cultivate and execute high-impact projects and propel client programs to new heights.

Academically, David held positions as an Assistant Research Professor, senior staff member at the Max Planck Institute for Biophysical Chemistry, Molecular Biology, head of immunobiology at the UC Berkeley School of Public Health-NBL, and adjunct Associate Professor of Laboratory Medicine at UCSF.
Philanthropically, David has served as a coordinator for the not-for-profit Home & Hope, Burlingame, CA, which offers shelter, meals, and support services for families experiencing homelessness in the San Francisco Peninsula.
